Global GAP Certification

The GLOBALG.AP IFA Fruits and Vegetables protocol is a compendium of good agricultural practices, environmental management, HACCP and traceability. GlobalGAP is trusted around the world with over 200,000 producers under certification worldwide.

GLOBALG.A.P. offers you one core product: GLOBALG.A.P. Certification , available for 3 scopes of production: Crops, Livestock, Aquaculture and consisting of a total of more than 40 standards.

Cultivating the Future of the Planet

GLOBALG.A.P. is the internationally recognized standard for farm production. GlobalGAP core product is the result of years of intensive research and collaboration with industry experts, producers and retailers around the globe. GlobalGAP goal is safe and sustainable agricultural production to benefit farmers, retailers and consumers throughout the world.

GLOBALG.A.P. Certification covers:

  • Food safety and traceability
  • Environment (including biodiversity)
  • Workers’ health, safety and welfare
  • Animal welfare
  • Includes Integrated Crop Management (ICM), Integrated Pest Control (IPC),
  • Quality Management System (QMS), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)

Integrated Farm Assurance

Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) is GLOBALG.A.P.’s flagship standard. Developed in consultation with stakeholders across the entire global supply chain, it takes a holistic approach to responsible farming and is audited annually by accredited, independent third-party certification bodies (CBs).

The IFA standard includes three scopes containing multiple product categories that cover agriculture, floriculture, aquaculture, and livestock. The certification status of all producers is visible in the GLOBALG.A.P. IT systems for transparency in the supply chain. IFA Version 6 covers:

  • Plants (Fruit and vegetables, Flowers and ornamentals, Combinable crops, Tea, Hops, and Plant propagation material)
  • Aquaculture
  • Livestock

Holistic approach to responsible farming

The GLOBALG.A.P. IFA standard takes a holistic approach that covers responsible farming practices through the following key topics:

  • Food safety
  • Environmental sustainability and biodiversity
  • Workers’ health, safety, and welfare
  • Animal health and welfare
  • Legal, management, and traceability
  • Production processes
  • Integrated crop management (ICM) and integrated pest control (IPC)
  • Quality management system (QMS) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)

For producers, IFA helps to improve farm management, raise the efficiency of farm operations, protect environmental resources, and enable access to international markets through compliance with a globally recognized standard.

For supply chain stakeholders, sourcing from IFA certified production helps to ensure food safety, mitigate reputational risks, protect product integrity, demonstrate commitment to responsible farming practices, and enable reliable and trusted supply that addresses all major consumer demands.

GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Safety Assurance Standard

Designed for regions where producers and their customers require only a food safety solution, the new Produce Safety Assurance Standard V5. based on the  GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Standard and consists of only the food safety elements.

The GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Safety Assurance Standard covers the certification of food safety elements throughout a product’s entire agricultural production process, from before the plant is in the ground (origin and propagation material control points) to the packaging.

The Produce Safety Assurance Standard offers several benefits to producers, for example, It reduces food safety risks in primary production by encouraging the development and adoption of national and regional farm assurance schemes, with a clear risk-assessed reference standard based on HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) serving both the consumer and the food supply chain.

Also, It increases integrity by defining and enforcing a common level of auditor competence, verification status, reporting, and harmonizing interpretation of compliance criteria.

GLOBALG.A.P. Crops for Processing (CfP) Standard

The CfP Standard covers crops that are slated to be frozen, juiced, used to make pre-cooked meals, and used for animal feed, among other types of processing. These crops will be held to the same standard as IFA crops, with the exception of two differences: the risk-based approach to food safety and the auditing rules.

Production of produce destined for processing implies different risks at the farm-level and therefore the CfP Standard approaches food safety risk assessment at the farm-level differently.
